Hadith on Dealing on sadness

Here is the some selection of Hadiths (sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) that offer guidance on dealing with sadness and distress:



1. "Know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and hardship with ease." (Sahih Bukhari)


2. "No fatigue, illness, anxiety, sorrow, harm, or sadness afflicts any Muslim, even to the extent of a thorn pricking him, without Allah wiping out his sins by it." (Sahih al-Bukhari)


3. "Seek help in patience and prayer; truly it is hard save for the humble-minded." (Quran 2:45)


4. "When you are in distress, do not say, 'If I do this, then such and such will happen,' but rather say, 'Allah has decreed this, and whatever He wills, He does.'" (Sahih Muslim)


5. "The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, while there is good in both." (Sahih Muslim)


6. "Do not grieve excessively, for every hardship comes with ease." (Sahih Bukhari)


7. "Allah is with those who are patient." (Quran 2:153)


8. "Do not feel enmity or jealousy towards one another; do not feel enmity or jealousy towards one another; do not turn your back on one another; do not undercut one another, but be you, O servants of Allah, brothers." (Sahih Muslim)


9. "The supplication of a person who is distressed is: 'Allah, Allah,' His name is Great, Most High." (Sunan Abi Dawood)


10. "A believer does not taunt or curse or abuse or talk indecently." (Tirmidhi)


11. "When one of you is afflicted with a calamity, he should say, 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' (Verily, we belong to Allah, and verily to Him we shall return), then make a supplication." (Sahih Muslim)


12. "Make things easy for the people and not difficult. Give people good news and bring them joy, and do not turn them away." (Sahih Bukhari)


13. "Whoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgment." (Sahih Muslim)


14. "When a person is in distress, he should not say, 'I wish I were dead,' but he should make this supplication: 'O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me.'" (Sahih Bukhari)


15. "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment." (Sahih Bukhari)


16. "Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah by displeasing people, Allah will suffice him and protect him from the people. But whoever seeks the pleasure of people by displeasing Allah, Allah will abandon him to the people." (Ibn Majah)


17. "Make your heart tender towards the orphans, and feed the hungry." (Sahih Bukhari)


18. "Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well, you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong, you will do wrong. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong if they do evil." (Sunan At-Tirmidhi)


19. "He who does not show mercy to our young ones and recognize the rights of our elders is not one of us." (Tirmidhi)


20. "The strongest among you is the one who controls his anger." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
